Bio: Lucy Kay Simoneit (née Plowe, b. 1998) is a nomadic artist, scholar and yogi. Primarily creating paintings from oil and wax, Lucy also works across drawing, printmaking, and collage. Her work approaches both the observed and the mystical aspects of the earth and consciousness. Traversing the landscape and bearing witness to the miracle of unfolding reality are essential components of her creative process and spiritual practice. Lucy graduated from Cornell University in 2020, majoring in Fine Art with minors in Religious Studies, Classical Civilizations, and Art History. She was the recipient of The Elsie Dinsmore Popkin Painting Award in 2020 and The Kip Brady Prize for Printmaking in 2018. Lucy earned her MFA in Painting with a Printmaking concentration at the New York Academy of Art in 2023, where she was a recipient of the Dana Schutz Patrons Scholar Award and the Kylemore Abbey Artist Residency in Galway, Ireland. Lucy is also a certified yoga teacher, having completed her 200 hours in 2o21 with Jamie Surya in Piermont, NY, and has been teaching in her communities ever since.
